WHOOHOO! - FRIDAY, April 3rd 9PM on National Geographic Channel!
SEE PAT PARELLI and Cesar Millan when the Dog Whisperer Meets the Horse Whisperer. Pat and Cesar work with a Therapeutic Riding Center in Southern California - two challenging dogs and a horse that terrifies the side-walkers.
Tell EVERYONE YOU KNOW to watch!! Go here - to read all about the episode. Pass the word.
Also, if you want to Let National Geographic Channel KNOW that you WANT MORE of PAT and CESAR - like, say, maybe a ONE-HOUR SPECIAL or hmm, a Horse Whisperer SERIES - please WRITE an e-mail to comments@natgeochannel.com and say "PRETTY PLEASE WE WANT MORE PAT!"

It was just two people who love animals working together. Its not a competition

I think the show would be just as good as Cesar Millan's, where they take tough cases and reform them.

The episode was very good but I wonder why they didn't ask the real Horse Whisperer Buck Brannaman to do the show. The book was based on Buck and by calling Pat the Horse Whisper instead of saying he utilizes horse whispering techniques is misleading. If you present it as he is one of several trainers who utilize these techniques it would be more accurate as the book was not based on himself or his training of horses. Give credit where is is do to Buck Brannaman who the book was based on.
RESPONSE FROM BLOG: The "real" Horse Whisperer? Then Buck should "give credit where credit is due" by acknowledging the men who taught him - Tom Dorrance and Ray Hunt, who were also interviewed by the author. Buck was simply younger and made himself more available. I would not consider Buck any more talented or worthy of the title "Horse Whisperer" than several trainers alive today.
Additionally, I don't believe the single author of a single book should be allowed to bestow Horsemanship Authority and Titles onto any trainer - particularly an author who depicts horse behaviour as inaccurately as Nicholas Evans. Mr. Evans was writing a love story, that happened to include a horse, not a story about horse training that happened to include a relationship.
But to answer your question as to why Pat was chosen for this episode: because Cesar Millan saw him work and chose him.

would love to see a whole series on Pat Parelli and Linda. They have just exploded lately onto the horse scene and indeed the world scene and they deserve the credit and recognition for their hard work in trying to set the standard for horse man ship. I think the show would be just as good as Cesar Millan's, where they take tough cases and reform them. There is an awful lot of dysfunction out there in the horse world, with most people ending up giving up or just leaving their horses doing nothing because they are afraid. Also, it becomes a bit more dangerous with horses I think. Although biting dogs not safe either, I think the sheer size of the horse makes it imperitive that people are safe, confident and good horse people. A lot of people get into horses late in life and they really do not have a clue. A series would really raise awareness.

I love to watch Cesar, he and Pat are so similar in their teaching of the facts, teaching people to be better leaders!!
I have been a student of Parelli for 10 years now & contrary to above comments I think some people are just born with NATURAL abilities BUT some of us have to study hard to try and perfect it.
I live in Australia & have not seen the episode yet but would love to see it & more of Pat & Cesar together WOH!!

Looking forward to this 'marriage' as many horse owners are also dog lovers. Should be a great example of prey/predator differences. Many horse owners say "he is just like a puppy dog" but you never hear it the other way around. Will tape it for those that missed the boat.

If a Parelli student takes the time that it takes and truly learns what horsenality their horse is, then the Parelli methods will work.
I have 3 different horsenalities, one my draft is all over the chart, but taking time and giving her a chance to understand what it is I am asking or her has proven the perfect end result.
As far as Cesar goes, I have worked with dogs all my life and finally I am seeing how to give my current dog Leadership, Love and using the correct Language I am having excellent results especially when it comes nail clipping time.
So with Pat and Cesar together is very huge for us who own both horses and dogs. I can hardly wait to watch this episode for the mear fact my dog things he needs to help with the horses, but his actions actually put me in danger because he comes from the rear when I'm in the front. I really need to address this issue for all involved.
Thank you for these two innovative men who are making it a better world for horses, dogs and people who love them.

I have seen Cesar on TV... Looked like his methods are ok/ Interesting concept... Seems to work.
Pat is entertaining and methods as demonstrated by Pat are good, (attended a clinic... probably well over 10 years ago now).
However downside of Pat Parelli's method are that I am So Sick of seeing people poorly attempting his methods, who do not have his skill and timing... Waving their carrot sticks at their either unresponsive or freaked out horses and not producing much positive effect with their attempts.
RESPONSE FROM BLOG: Alas, not everyone is born with Parelli skills and techniques - actually NO ONE is born with horsemanship skills. They are learned. I am much more impressed with people who are TRYING to go down the path of Love, Language and Leadership than with people who are headed in the opposite direction. Thanks for your feedback.

Okay! This is so cool. I am grateful to Tivo for capturing each of these guys' shows for me. Now I get them together? YES!
This notice I will send out to my whole dog community, too. And all the horse/dog lovers who don't even spell Parelli, yet.
